It is an ornamental plant from the Asteraceae family (sunflower family). It is a perennial flower clear down to USDA Zone 3 so it is very hardy and cold tolerant. Doronicum Orientale plants are uncommon, but they are wonderful spring blooming perennials with attractively toothed foliage and daisy-like flowers. It performs best in a partially shaded, consistently moist location; however, it will grow in full sun in cooler environments. The plants are approximately 16 inches tall. Leopard's Bane Doronicum is a very uniform plant, so it works well as an edging plant, in containers, or in small spaces when planted from flower seeds. The Leopard's Bane flower looks wonderful with spring bulbs, and it makes a great cut flower.
