Its most frequent use is as a small evergreen ornamental hedge in formal herb gardens. Germander herb will grow in almost any soil as long as it is well-drained, and it requires little water to keep green. Germander produces lovely violet colored blooms in the summer and continues for weeks of color. The blooms attract both bees and butterflies.
